    The new compact and more powerful Yamaha PW-X motor was designed and developed for demanding ePerformance use. In comparison to the PW motor, its weight was reduced by nearly 400g to 3.1 kg, as well as its size, which was reduced by -13%. /react-text

    react-text: 42 An additional support level provides more power all the way up to high cadence ranges of 120 revolutions per minute. Despite having torque of up to 80Nm, the PW-X system provides a smooth, more silent and more natural driving experience. All rotating parts have been optimized with a focus on weight reduction. /react-text

    react-text: 44 As a result of the lower inertia caused by this weight reduction, these parts can move with greater efficiency relative to the input from your pedals. Combined with the new refined freewheel design which creates a rapid engagement of the cranks, the result is a significantly more responsive motor, which provides a new level of a natural riding feel.

    Haibike Integrated Motor Concept:  The motor is the technological core and defining characteristic of an eBike. Thanks to our Gravity Casting motor interfaces we can integrate the motor in a compact manner without separate mounting plates. This concept reduces the space required to mount the motor and decreases the visual volume of the engine. 

    Elegant integration : The SkidPlate is a useful protective device from a technical perspective, but also allows us to optically integrate the motor to make it part of the frame. Unlike other integration concepts, the motor looks like a natural part of the eBike.

     Conventional eBike motors sit low in the frame and run the risk of being damaged by strikes to the underside of your bike. In 2012 we introduced the SkidPlate, a simple protective element that effectively protects the motor from below. 

    Protection from below

    Similar to a helmet, the SkidPlate protects the motor from damage and is strong enough to absorb even the hardest of strikes that would otherwise damage the motor.

    Plastic as the ideal material

    We use a special, impact-resistant plastic that is able to perfectly distribute force and withstand deformation of its shape. Unlike metal, which would bend permanently, plastic springs back to its original state. The paint color conceals scratches and damages, and if necessary the SkidPlate can be replaced easily and inexpensively.

    The centerpiece of the frame: the motor interface. At this connection point many important functions come together: the engine mount, swing arm and shock mounts, and the battery and downtube connection. The more stable the interface is, the more stable the entire frame is.

    Casting process

     We started using a casting process from the motorcycle industry, gravity casting, in 2010. Negative molds are created from compressed sand, filled with aluminum-zinc alloy, and then rotated along precisely calculated axes. Thanks to gravity, there is uniform thickness throughout the casting. 

    Light, stable and precise

    The raw cast aluminum parts are controlled by X-ray analysis and then reworked in a computerized process that ensures a consistently high level of precision, and a finished interface that is low weight and high-strength.


    The new, compact display of Yamaha PW-X Systems offers despite its small size, a variety of information and functions. /react-text

    react-text: 95 This includes the selection and display of the support levels off, Eco +, Eco, Standard, High and New EXPW stage which provides significantly even more support. In addition, it displays information like the battery charge, the remaining range, driving, average, and maximum speed as well as the daily and total distance. Time and the current cadence can also be displayed. All functions can be conveniently controlled via a remote which also offers a pushing aid up to walking speed. A Bluetooth interface provides convenient digital connectivity. Practical: a LED indicates different colors the currently selected level of assistance!

    Many conventional displays sit high and thus unsecured to the handlebar. Smaller displays under the handlebar or on the remote solve this problem though, but the force the rider to take his views and thus the attention off the central field of vision. The Haibike Integrated display solves both elegantly. /react-text

    react-text: 122 We have integrated the Yamaha display into the stem so that it is ideally located in front of the driver. Moreover, it is securely protected by the solid aluminum forged part, for example in case of a crash or when you turn the bike upside down (f.e. when removing the wheels). The display body itself is suspended by a silicone body which cuts it off from vibration or twisting. Visually, the whole stem is perfectly integrated into the overall appearance of the bike: thanks to the wide clamping region and the corresponding spacers the stem becomes visually a part of the frame. As a result, the display is transforming from a former alien to a visually and technically perfect integrated new cockpit.
