    Integrating batteries into frames in both an elegant and technically feasible manner is one of the biggest challenges in the design and engineering of eBikes. Our Step-In Battery Concept proves it is possible. 

    Visually and technically convincing

    To reduce the visual "weight, " we sink the Bosch battery slightly into the downtube. Thanks to the combination of hydroformed tubes and special castings we can dispense with welds and thus eliminate inaccurate attachment points. This technique also reduces the distance between the motor and battery by 11mm.

     

    Bosch motors have significantly smaller sprockets compared to classical chainrings and rotate 2.5 times faster than the revolution of the crank. This causes less teeth to transmit more force. /react-text

    Custom Haibike Sprocket

    react-text: 75 Almost every XDURO comes with a specially developed Haibike sprocket. Each sprocket is milled out of a solid block by a computer-controlled milling machine (CNC). The special shape of the teeth ensures 100% contact to the chain, guaranteeing a long life for both the chain and the sprocket. Together with the integrated chainring guide on the sprocket and the chain guard on the pulley wheel, chain jack is nearly impossible.

     

    Haibike Integrated Motor Concept /react-text react-text: 272 The motor is the technological core and defining characteristic of an eBike. Thanks to our Gravity Casting motor interfaces we can integrate the motor in a compact manner without separate mounting plates. This concept reduces the space required to mount the motor and decreases the visual volume of the engine.

    Elegant integration :  The SkidPlate is a useful protective device from a technical perspective, but also allows us to optically integrate the motor to make it part of the frame. Unlike other integration concepts, the motor looks like a natural part of the eBike.

     

     Conventional eBike motors sit low in the frame and run the risk of being damaged by strikes to the underside of your bike. In 2012 we introduced the SkidPlate, a simple protective element that effectively protects the motor from below. 

    Protection from below

    Similar to a helmet, the SkidPlate protects the motor from damage and is strong enough to absorb even the hardest of strikes that would otherwise damage the motor. 

    Plastic as the ideal material

    We use a special, impact-resistant plastic that is able to perfectly distribute force and withstand deformation of its shape. Unlike metal, which would bend permanently, plastic springs back to its original state. The paint color conceals scratches and damages, and if necessary the SkidPlate can be replaced easily and inexpensively.

     

    The centerpiece of the frame: the motor interface. At this connection point many important functions come together: the engine mount, swing arm and shock mounts, and the battery and downtube connection. The more stable the interface is, the more stable the entire frame is. 

    Casting process

    We started using a casting process from the motorcycle industry, gravity casting, in 2010. Negative molds are created from compressed sand, filled with aluminum-zinc alloy, and then rotated along precisely calculated axes. Thanks to gravity, there is uniform thickness throughout the casting. 

    Light, stable and precise

    The raw cast aluminum parts are controlled by X-ray analysis and then reworked in a computerized process that ensures a consistently high level of precision, and a finished interface that is low weight and high-strength.

     

     

    Lighting on a bike is an important safety feature and allows you to ride your bike beyond daylight hours. Standard lights are usually quite large, and technically and optically contrast with the character of sporty bikes. We developed the eLight lighting system to create lights that are functional and optically integrated.

    Bright but invisible

    Both the front and rear light are designed to be positioned extremely close to the frame so they visually become part of it. /react-text

    The Bosch Performance CX has been specially optimized for sporty use. The motor delivers a constant maximum torque of up to 75 Nm up even to a high speed range.

     The motor offers an impressive maximum torque of 75 Nm. The “Direct Flow” technique also guarantees powerful support in the lower cadence levels. Trail Control offers a dynamic power management system, that allows the rider to choose the optimum support level (50-300%) for the terrain they are riding, their riding style, and the distance they are looking to cover. “Shift detection” protects your chain by cutting off the torque from the motor during shifting for smooth gear changes.

     

    The new compact display is a combination of remote control and display. Positioned on the left of the handlebars, the display provides key information through a small, easy to read display. Its compactness and location make it ideal for extreme ePerformance bikes whose riders seek a display that is reduced to the essentials and well-protected.

     All the main functions can be directly controlled: support level (Off, Eco, Tour, Sport, Turbo), switching on and off the eBike light, walk-assist, the current speed, the day trip and the total mileage of the bike, and the range, or how far the current charge level of the battery will last in mileage. A backlight in the display makes all information easy to read even in the dark.
