WHERE IT SITS

The AllTrail 3 sits at the entry point of Haibike's AllTrail range. Above it, the AllTrail 5 and 7 add better suspension and higher-spec drivetrains. For the money it was well specified where it matters: the Yamaha PW-S2 motor is shared with bikes costing considerably more, the RockShox Deluxe Select Plus rear shock is a genuine step above what many bikes at this price were fitting, and the Schwalbe Nobby Nic tyres are the right choice for mixed UK trail conditions. The MicroShift Advent X 10-speed drivetrain is workmanlike rather than exciting, but it's robust and easy to live with.

HOW IT RIDES

Motor & Battery

The Yamaha PW-S2 produces 75Nm of torque and 250W of power. The power delivery is smooth and progressive rather than spikey, which matters on technical descents where you need control, not surges. The 720Wh Yamaha InTube battery is cleanly integrated into the downtube and compatible with Yamaha's range extender for longer days out. The Side Switch display is minimal and intuitive — less to think about on the trail.

Suspension

The SR Suntour XCR34 Air fork gives you 140mm of travel with air spring adjustment and a lockout. It's an honest mid-level air fork — not as tuneable as a Fox or RockShox unit but capable and comfortable on trail terrain. The RockShox Deluxe Select Plus rear shock is a genuinely decent unit for this price bracket, with a proper air spring and rebound damping. 140mm rear travel puts this firmly in trail territory.

Wheels & Tyres

The mullet setup is a considered choice. The 29" front wheel rolls over trail obstacles more smoothly; the smaller 27.5" rear quickens the handling and keeps the bottom bracket at a sensible height for confidence on technical ground. Schwalbe Nobby Nic Performance tyres are a solid all-round trail choice — grippy enough off-road, fast enough on hardpack linking sections.
